Cave Creek’s Dynamite Arena began hosting twice-weekly jackpots in the 1970s when it was one of just two such facilities in the Phoenix area (the other was Elmer’s Roping Arena in Laveen). It was where many of today’s NFR qualifiers from Arizona cut their teeth as kids and today, it’s the only remaining local arena with that legacy. Remarkably, after three decades, it’s still jackpotters’ favorite place to gather twice a week to reunite and enjoy sunshine and friendly competition.
"I first started going to Dynamite Arena 50 years ago when Cave Creek was just an old dirt road. Back in those days you knew everyone. Now, I'll go to Dynamite and have seven partners and I might know two of them. The change is just incredible. I still love it just as much as I always have."

"Dynamite Arena has always been one of my favorite places to rope. It's always provided such a fun and friendly atmosphere. The facility itself is just fantastic and with the recent updates it just keeps getting better. I love that they host the WSTR Title Fights each year. I've always had a lot of success there and it's just an added benefit that it's right in our backyard."

"We would come to Dynamite on Sundays when we were in Arizona to rope in the late 1970s and early '80s. In those days there was no handicap system in place so you might be roping against the upcoming stars and even the Pros. You never knew who you might see there — Jake, Clay, Al Bach and many others."
